The Inishowen league has been in existence for over thirty five years now and the standard of football in the league has never been higher.
Boasting eighteen clubs from Malin Head to Killea the league has continued to develop facilities and encourage progression on and off the field. Most of the clubs now own and have developed playing pitches on their grounds along with changing facilities and meeting rooms. The league itself is spearheaded by a small hardworking committee who along with the Maginn Park Parks committee are in the middle of a three phased development currently ongoing at the league HQ’s. This development has been supported in no small way by all the clubs and hopefully they will see the benefits for a long number of years to come.Phase one has seen the development of three all weather facilities two of which will be five a side while the third is a larger eight a side facility. This floodlit facility has proved to be a phenomenal success and the league facilitates all representative teams as well as the Youth and Schoolboy Academy and Ladies League with use of it when required. We currently are in the process of Phase Two which will see the development of a 115yards by 80 yards sand based pitch which will also be fully floodlit. With grant aid this will be complete this year and the benefits of such a facility for all facets of football in the peninsula are far reaching.
The floodlights are now installed and the fencing contactor is near completion with the pitch due to be sewn out in August .Phase Three will see the development of changing and meeting facilities and an indoor arena but at the moment this is a few years down the line. We wiill need to work hard on our fundraising.
