Club Notes - 07th September 2008

USL team - had no match last week but are back in action this weekend when they entertain Drimkeen United in the league, KO Sunday next @ 2.00pm
Youth team - started their 08/09 league campaign with a well earned 3-3 draw with Glengad United. The boys fought back from 2-0 down to 3-2 in front with goals from Ryan Duffy, Paul McKinney & Eammon Fullerton, but conceded a equalising goal late on. The team travel away to Gleneely Colts next Sunday KO 2.00pm
Reserves team - the Reserve Shield started with an away defeat for the reserves at the hands of Rasheney FC reserves. Cockhill created the majority of the chances in the game and will feel very unlucky to come away with nothing. Next up for the reserves is a home tie with Glengad United Reserves on Sunday 14th KO 11.00am
Training for Inishowen Teams - training has changed to Wednesday & Friday nights for the next 6-7 weeks. All players report to the beach for 7pm sharp, 7-8pm on the beach followed by the astro turf from 8-9pm
Club Membership - please could all players involved in the Inishowen league teams pay their membership money to the team managers ASAP, thank you
Astro Pitches - 2 pitches (7-a-side) are now available, on most week nights, for bookings. Bookings to be made through Patrick McLaughlin (087 6336615) who will assist you with availability/time slots
Club Clothing - a 'New Range' of club clothing has arrived in the club shop, should anybody wish to order any items please leave details at the office along with deposit of €10.00. The 'New Range' offers a wide range of clothing items for all ages
Committee Meeting - the next meeting will take place on Tuesday 16th September at 9.00pm sharp, all managers are to be in attendance

Club Notes - 31st August 2008

USL team - suffered defeat on their travels again when they went down by a score of 2-1 away to Swilly Rovers on Friday evening last. 2-0 down after 5 minutes the boys got a goal back before half time but all through the second half were unable to break down a well drilled Swilly defence. The Cockhill goal from Aiden O'Donnell. The next fixture is home to Drumkeen United KO Sunday next @ 2.00pm
Youth team - The youths finished their league cup campaign with a 2-0 defeat away to Glengad United. The league starts this weekend with Cockhill entertaining the same opponents, Glengad United, a good start needed for the long season ahead. The next two fixtures are Sunday 7th September home to Glengad United and Sunday 14th September away to Gleneely Colts. KO in both fixtures will be @ 2.00pm
Reserves team - the Reserve Shield gets underway this weekend with an away trip to Rasheney Reserves on Sunday 7th September followed by a home fixture with Glengad United Reserves on Sunday 14th KO in both games is @ 11.00am
U-14 Girls - hard luck to the Under 14 Girls in the Ulster Final but a big thank you to them all for their efforts during the summer months, many thanks again to Kara Doherty, manager

Training - the training continues on Tuesday & Thursday now with both nights at the beach from 7-8 followed by Astro pitch from 8-9pm

Club Notes - 24th August 2008

USL team - suffered a 4-2 away defeat to table toppers Kildrum Tigers on Sunday last. Cockhill played with a strong breeze in the first half but went in 2-0 down at the break, the boys got back into the game with a Charles Fayed goal and on 75 minutes had levelled through a Derek Doherty shot. The home side claimed all 3 points thanks to two late goals. The next fixture is an away trip to Swilly Rovers KO Friday next 6.30pm (see local press for confirmation)
Youth team - the youths started their league cup campaign with an away defeat to Dunree on Friday last but bounced back with a 4-2 victory over Sea Rovers on Sunday thanks to goals from Aiden Porter, Kevin McDaid & Shaun Porter (2). The next & final fixture in the group see the team travel to Glengad on Sunday 31st August KO @ 2.00pm
Reserves team - the reserve shield groups have been drawn with Cockhill getting a tough draw. Rasheney, Carndonagh, Clonmany Shamrocks & Glengad United along with our own reserve team make up the group. The top team the only certain to qualify for the semi final. These fixtures do not commence until Sunday 7th September'08
U-14 Girls - Congratulations to Kara Doherty and the U14 girls team who have reached the Ulster final and will play near neighbours Illies on Sunday next in Letterkenny. The venue & KO time tbc (see local press for confirmation)

Club Notes - 17th August 2008

USL team - the boys got back into action, after the summer break, on Friday night last with a 3-2 home victory over Bonagee United in the league. Goals from Derek Doherty, James Bradley & Charles Fayed. The boys went in at the break 3-0 up after a very impressive first half but started slow in the second period and just managed to hold on for a valuable 3 points. Their next fixture is an away trip to league leaders Kildrum Tigers KO tbc probably Sunday @ 2.00pm, see local press for confirmation
Ladies team - lost 6-0 at home to Carn FC on Monday 11th but bounced back to record a 3-1 victory over QPS on Thursday 14th thanks to goals from Louise Porter (2) and an OG. The girls season is over now for another year, the committee would like to thank Jim Gillespie for his time with the team this year
Youth team - Sean McClean with the help of Michael Gallagher & Michael McLaughlin get set for the new season this weekend. The 'West End League Cup' is first up and the team have been drawn with Glengad United, Dunree United and Sea Rovers. The first fixture is on Friday night KO @ 7.00pm away to Dunree with the next fixture on Sunday 24th at home to Sea Rovers KO @ 2.00pm. The final fixture in the group see them travel to Glengad on Sunday 31st August KO @ 2.00pm

USL team - are back in league action this weekend when they entertain Bonagee United at St. Marys Park Cockhill. The game KO's on Friday 15th August @ 7.00pm
Ladies team - lost away to Greencastle last Thursday evening by a score of 5-2. They play Carn on Monday 11th August in a rearranged fixture. They girls have a few other re-arranged fixtures to complete, dates tbc see local press for details
Pre-Season Training - the training continues on Mondays & Fridays @ 7.00pm, with Wednesday night also now set aside for friendly fixtures. The new season kicks-off on Friday 22nd August'08 so players are asked to come out for training. Training is at 7.00 sharp so players are asked to report on time

USL team - are halfway through the mid-season summer break now. The next fixture, home to Bonagee United in the league, to be played week ending 17th August'08. The fixture will probably take place on Friday 15th August KO 7pm (see local press for confirmation)
Ladies team - game with QPS was called off on Thursday last so will have to be re-arranged for a later date. Next fixture tbc see local press for details
Under age football - The underage football fixtures are now complete for the season. The committee would like to thank the following for the time in taking the boys age groups - U12's Kevin O'Donnell & Paul McKinney, U14's Brendan Gillespie & Aiden O'Donnell, U16's Derek Doherty & William O'Connor, U18's Christopher McDaid & Patrick McLaughlin. The girls U14's are through to an Ulster semi-final and the U16's have one league game left, many thanks to Kara Doherty who took charge of both teams. Thanks also to John Quinn for helping out with coaching sessions for the girls

Club Notes - 27th July 2008

USL team - are on the mid-season summer break now for three weeks with the next competitive fixture to take place the week ending Sunday 17th August (see local press for confirmation)
Ladies team - played away to Carndonagh FC on Monday 21st and suffered a heavy 5-1 defeat with the Cochkill goal from Niamh McGlynn. The girls, who have a few fixture to catch up on, played QPS on Thursday 24th. The game ended in a 2-2 draw with the goals from Caroline Donaghey (2). The next fixture is another home fixture with QPS on Thursday 31st July at 7.30pm
U18's team - Under18s played there final fixture of the season on Friday last 25th July'08 away to Moville Celtic and after going a goal down early on they went on to win the game by a scoreline of 8-3
Pre-Season Training - the training continues on Mondays & Fridays @ 7.00pm, with Wednesday night also now starting this week. Training is at 7.00 sharp so players are asked to report on time. The new season kicks-off on Friday 22nd August'08 so a few friendly games are to be arranged in the next few weeks

Club Notes - 20th July 2008

USL team - were held to a 1-1 draw by Derry City on Friday night last. The boys went a goal down in the first half but battled back in the second half and got their equaliser on 77 minutes from Paul McKinney. The league takes a break now for three weeks with the next competitive fixture to take place the week ending Sunday 17th August (see local press for confirmation)
Ladies team - played away to local rivals Illies on Thursday last and with the panel short on 6 players came away with a 0-0 draw. They have two re-arranged fixtures this week when the play Carn away Monday 21st and QPS home on Thursday 24th at 7.30pm
U18's team - Under18s played Illies at home on Friday night, running out 3-1 winners. Despite dominating possession the boys had to rely on two late goals from Marty Doherty and David Bryg to ensure victory. A good team performance with, man of the match, Marty Doherty and Eamon Fullerton dominant in midfield. Aaron McLaughlin and Shane McDaid marshalled the defence well and Aaron O'Donnell had a very confident game in goal. Final match of the season this Friday (25th July) away to Moville. Players to report to the club at 6.15pm

USL team - got another league victory on Sunday last. The boys ran out 3-0 winners over Killea FC with the goals from Aiden O'Donnell, Ryan Duffy and Mike Doherty, the victory keeps them in second place in the league with Killea being the first game into the second half of the league campaign. Next league fixture is home to Derry City on Friday Night KO 7.30 see local press for confirmation

Club Notes - 06th July 2008

USL team - lost 2-1 away to Buncrana Hearts on Tuesday in the league cup. Cockhill with a few players rested, got of to a great start when Ryan Duffy put them 1-0 up early on, Buncrana got the equaliser on the stroke of half-time and the winner ten minutes from full time. The team travelled to Drumkeen United on Sunday and collected all 3 points with a very good 3-0 victory. The game was virtually over at half time after a excellent first half display seen them go in at the break 3-0 up thanks to goals from Ryan Duffy (2) and Barry McColgan. Drumkeen pushed for a goal throughtout the second half but the Cockhill defence stood firm. Next league fixture is home to Killea FC on Sunday 13th July KO 2pm
Ladies team - the ladies game with QPS was called off last Thursday due to the heavy rain fall, next fixture is away to Derry City on Thursday 10th July
U18's team - an under-strength team lost 1-7 away to Culdaff on Friday night last. The boys paid the price for some poor defensive errors, trailing 0-4 at half time. The team, to their credit, battled on and made the second half a more even contest with Shane McDaid getting our goal.Good displays from Aaron McLaughlin, Shane McDaid and David Laird. Next match is Friday 11th July, away to Carn, players report to the club at 6.15pm
Pre-Season Training - has started up again for the new season, both the 1st Division team and Reserves are asked to report for training on Monday & Friday nights at 7.00pm sharp, new players are most welcome
