Culdaff Football Club Notes
Numbers drawn in last week’s lotto were 2-3-5-6-8-13. There was no jackpot winner. Twenty euro winners were:

Next week's jackpot is now €2100 and this week’s sellers are Harry Crumlish & Michael McLaughlin.
Any seller unable to attend must get a substitute to fill in.
Pre season training has resumed at CaratraPark on Tuesdays & Thursdays at 7.30pm. All are welcome to attend.
The club wishes speedy recoveries to Brian Harris and Niall Gordon who suffered ankle injuries in the opening games of the season.
Last week against Carrowmena, Culdaff lost two one and failed to qualify for the quarter finals as a result. Dermot Diver was on the mark and this week we begin our league campaign with a game away to Glengad while the reserves also start their shield campaign also away to Glengad. The reserves played another friendly in Clonmany last week and drew two all with goals from Brendan Lafferty and Declan Noone.
The fun soccer for boys and girls aged 6 yrs to 10 yrs continues in CaratraPark on Wednesday evenings at 6pm.
Training will finish at 7.15pm and a two euro fee applies.
Played in wintry conditions last weeks blitzes saw narrow defeats in all games with Rory McElroy our only scorer on the day.
This week we move onto Buncrana.

The new season saw Culdaff defeat Rasheney four nil on Friday with goals from Conor O’Brien, Brendan McLaughlin, Niall Gordon & Michael Byrne. On Sunday they played Redcastle away and drew two all with Conor O’Brien and Dermot Diver on the mark.
This week we need a draw to progress to the quarter finals of the league cup and we are away to Carrowmena.
The reserves traveled to Dunree and played well with a very young team losing one nil.

In the first of the blitzs last week Culdaff drew nil nil with Buncrana before losing to QPS & Moville and beating Killea three two. Scorers on the day were Jack Mclaughlin, Thomas O’Brien, Josh Conlon and Luke Barnett.
Away to Dunree in the last game of the season last week the girls won two one with Denise Farren scoring both goals.
Well done to all the girls who played and trained all year.

The presentation night was well attended and the club would like to thank McGuinness Bar & Staff for their help on the night.
The senior player of the year award was won by JJ Doherty while reserve player of the year award was won by Raymond McFeely. The top goal scorers were Derek Doherty and Eugene McLaughlin while young player of the year was Brendan McLaughlin. The clubman of the year was George Houten and the club wishes to thank the Water Sports Committee for the framed photograph of the Culdaff over 40s team which was signed by Packie Bonner.
In the underage awards the under 12 player of the year was Declan McLaughlin while top goal scorers were Kieran Conroy & Darragh Folan. Under 14 player of the year was Christopher McCormick while Billy McCann emerged as top goal scorer. In the under 16 squad there were joint players of the year with Jordan O’Brien & Ryan Greene the winners and Matthew Crampsey top goal scorer. Finally the under 18 top scorer was Brendan McLaughlin while the player of the year was Conor Keddy.

Culdaff lost to Dunshaughlin from the Dublin Intermediate league last week by two goals to one. The club would like to thank Rasheney for the use of their pitch as Caratra is closed after reseeding work for a month.
The new season starts this week with the league cup when Culdaff play away to Rasheney on Friday at 6.45pm and Redcastle on Sunday at 2pm.
The Reserve league shield commences in the first week of September and we have been drawn with Glengad Res, Greencastle Res & Carrowmena Res.

The youth football has ended for the season and well done to all the players and managers.

The fun soccer will not be on for two weeks but will resume shortly. More details next week.

The under 12s defeated Dunree five one last week with Thomas McLaughlin getting a hat trick and Darragh Folan getting two.
The under 14s had no game last week and the under 16s are also off for a fortnight due to the exams.
The under 18s lost three one to Moville in the cup with Christy Smith scoring.
Four of our youth coaches (Ronan/Martin/George & Eugene) traveled to the new Aviva Stadium in Dublin last Saturday and really enjoyed the trip and the spectacle of what is truly a world class stadium.

Congratulations from all, St Bodens school and the club, to Josh Conlon who won the Inishowen Primary Schools Soccer Skills competition held at MaginnPark, Buncrana. Josh won the school competition organized by Mr Ward and performed superbly to emerge on top in the final.

All at the club would like to extend their sympathy to Lizzie Kelly and her family on the death of her father last week.

Last week the girls were short a few regulars and lost two one away to Sea Rovers with Denise Farren scoring.
There will be a fund raising quiz in McGuinness’s Bar on Friday night the 28th of May commencing at 10pm. All welcome for a good nights fun with bar questions, picture round and a raffle all thrown in. All support appreciated.
Six teams participated in the quiz last week with €222 raised for the Ladies team. Winners on the night were the “Write it Down” team led by avid quiz goer Oliver McDaid followed by the “We are Gannetts” team led by Raymond McFeely. Bar questions were correctly answered by Oliver McDaid, Katrina Ruddy, John McFeely & Brendan Lafferty while raffle winners on the night were Pat Doherty, Brendan Lafferty, Annie O’Neill, Emer Diver & Brigid McConnelogue.
