Strand Hotel First Division League Play  off

Buncrana Hearts Res            3-2       Glengad United          (AET)

In a pulsating game Buncrana raced into an early two nil lead before Glengad showed great resilience to force extra time but in the end Buncrana claim the league title and the one promotion slot available.Glengad started well with Patrick McDermott’s free easily held by Adrian Brown before Ruairi Doherty flashed a ball across the face of goal but there were no takers.Buncrana replied and Brian Bradley’s free found Michael Caldwell but he headed over the top.At the other end Terence Doherty crossed from the endline to John G McDermott but he headed over at the back post.The deadlock was broken on 11 minutes when Puaric O’Flaherty’s ball through the middle forced a defensive error and Patrick Fletcher slammed the ball past Michael McLaughlin from eight yards.Glengad tried to respond with McDermott’s free flicked on by Michael Doherty but Brown made a fine save at the foot of the post.Midway through the half Buncrana doubled their lead when Bradley’s corner was powerfully headed home by Seanan Murphy.Glengad upped the pace with Michael Doherty’s header producing a fine one handed save from Brown before  a long kick out by McLaughlin was not dealt with by the Buncrana defence but Terence Doherty headed just wide.Glengad were the better team on the restart with Terence Doherty lobbing just over the top before Ruairi Doherty had a header cleared off the line by Karl Kelly.They got a lifeline won 65 minutes when substitute Stephen McLaughlin was upended by Brown and McDermott coolly converted the penalty.Buncrana replied with substitute Simon McGrory seeing his inswinger punched clear by McLaughlin.At the other end JG McDermott’s volley was parried by Brown and the clearance completed by Kelly.On 83 minutes Fletcher raced onto a through ball but his effort was half blocked by McLaughlin allowing Jason Doherty to complete the clearance.Glengad threw everything forward and on 88 minutes  Terence Doherty’s lay off to substitute John McDaid saw his cross drop in at the back post.In the first period of extra timeMcLaughlin and McDaid were both denied by keeper Brown before Michael Doherty’s cross fell to Terence Doherty but he miscontrolled and Brown smothered.Buncrana replied in the opening minute of the second period after substitute Odhran Doherty crossed to Fletcher hut he headed across goal and wide from a tight angle.With minutes remaining a superb tackle by Brian Bradley stopped McLaughlin in his tracks and when his clearance found Johnny Eccles his cross cum shot dropped in off the far post.Glengad threw everything forward but failed to force the penalty shootout.

The visitors took the lead on 35 minutes when Gerard Gill played a one two with Raymond Campbell and fired past Patsy Barr.The home side replied with Seamus Crumlish heading a corner off the bar.Greencastle started well but the visitors broke with Campbell going past four defenders to slot past Philip McClenaghan.They increased their lead after Campbell controlled and lobbed the advancing McClenaghan from eighteen yards.Carrowmena made it four after good interplay from Glen Callaghan and PJ  Barr released Campbell to complete his hat trick.On 88 minutes Gerard Gill pounced on a defensive error to volley to the top corner from the edge of the area.

Colts keep pressure on at the top

With wind advantage Rovers started well and had claims for a penalty waved away on 13 minutes.Andrew Davis then found Daniel Glackin twice before the break but he was denied on both occasions as the half ended scoreless.Gleneely began the second period well with Declan and Ronan Kearney having efforts off target.They made the breakthrough on 72 minutes when James Gray’s free was headed past Daniel Toland by Barry Kearney.Within a minute they doubled their lead when Gray beat the offside trap to race clear and shoot low past Toland.

Gleneely Colts  1       Carrowmena FC 1

The home side dropped another crucial two points when they conceded a late penalty for a share of the spoils. They started well with Declan Kearney’s free was well saved by Maurice McGeady. Carrowmena replied after JP Thompson’s clearance fell to Paul Duffy but his effort was well saved by Kris Duffy. They went close again midway through the half when Glen Callaghan fed Gerard Gill but his effort was cleared off the line by Barry Diver. Kearney replied with another brilliant free kick which drew a stunning save from McGeady. Carrowmena went close on the half hour after Raymond Campbell and Gill combining but denied by the advancing Duffy. The home side took the lead on 38 minutes when Kearney’s corner was not cleared allowing Eddie McNamee to drill a superb low shot to the bottom corner. The home side started the second period well with Barry and Ronan Kearney combining for the latter’s snapshot  to be brilliantly saved by McGeady. Carrowmena hit back with Paul Duffy crossing for Campbell’s header to be well saved by Duffy. Play swung from end to end with Kearney’s corner only partially cleared to brother Barry but he fired inches over. Carrowmena responded again with Ritchie McElhinney crossing for Duffy to head just wide. The visitors got back on terms when Paul Duffy was adjudged to have been fouled and he coolly converted the spot kick. The colts threw men forward and Diver had a header saved before Barry Kearney’s shot clipped the bar and James Gray rounded a defender but saw his shot go the wrong side of the post.

The home side came from four nil down to four three but got caught out again in the latter stages. Alan Friel pounced on a defensive error to open the scoring and the same player made it two nil when Friel converted a penalty after Denis Hegarty was felled in the area. Good interplay on 35 minutes saw John Mclaughlin find Hegarty to slot home from six yards. Before the interval Mark McLaughlin pounced to drill a fifteen yards effort just inside the post. Greencastle were transformed after the interval with Paddy keys crossing for Gerard Kelly to get one back on 47 minutes before minutes later JP O’Doherty cross was knocked back across for JohnGillen to slot home. On 65 minute they were awarded a penalty for handball which Kevin Cavanagh converted to make it four three. But as they pressed Rasheney caught them on the break when John McLaughlin latch onto a through ball to fire to the top corner past Philip McClenaghan

Buncrana began well with Diarmuid Fullerton finding Greg Bradley who headed on to Puaric O’Flaherty but his effort was blocked. Rovers replied and Donal Doherty’s ball over the top found Gary Farren who fired over the advancing Mark McGonagle but his effort skimmed the bar. Minutes later Seamus Doherty was fouled on the edge of the area and Farren fired a free kick inches over the top. On the half hour the home side were awarded a penalty after O’Flaherty was upended but the big striker saw his spot kick well saved by Daniel Toland.Before the interval they were awarded another penalty for handball but this time O’Flaherty saw his well struck effort crash off the post. Rovers began the better and Gary Farren broke clear but was denied by a blocking save from McGonagle.The home side broke quickly and Martin Bradley crossed for Michael Caldwell to head home from six yards on 56 minutes. A few minutes later they added a second when Caldwell headed home at the near post following a Conor McConnell corner. On 71 minutes Buncrana sealed the tie when Tommy Caldwell advanced through the middle and unleashed a shot which Toland parried allowing O’Flaherty to slide the loose ball home. They completed the scoring when Seanan Murphy found Martin Bradley and his cross was sidefooted home by Johnny Lynch.

On 3 minutes Rasheney’s Denis Hegarty crossed but John McLaughlin just failed to connect inside the six yards area but when Kris Duffy lost control Barney Doherty blazed over.Gleneely replied following a mix up in defence the ball was picked up by Keith McLaughlin but he fired into the side netting. On 18 minutes Barry Diver headed a Declan Kearney corner over the top.Rasheney then had a purple patch when John Doherty had a header saved by Duffy before Alan Friel drove over from twenty yards and Eamonn Mahon headed over from six yards after Friel set him up.Gleneely replied when Jason McElhinney had a header from a corner cleared off the line by Sean Toland.Before the break Alan Friel for the home side crossed to Barney Doherty whose first time volley from twenty yards skimmed over the bar.Rasheney started the second period better with two long range frees from John Doherty seeing one saved and one just over the top. Barney Doherty then had a left foot snapshot just wide before on 65 minutes Barry Kearney set up Declan Kearney but his twelve yards effort was blocked by defenders. In the final quarter Gleneely’s Declan Kearney saw his free from twenty five yards clipped the angle of bar and post before on 83 minutes Barry Kearney had a long range effort held by Kieran Friel.The home side responded with Alan Friel crossing to Doherty but his tame shot was held by Duffy. The last chance saw Friel square to substitute Donal Kelly whose effort from the edge of the area clipped the crossbar on the way over.

This top of the table clash ended in a share of the spoils which was not entirely unexpected. Gleneely started the better with Keith McLaughlin heading over from a good position before Barry Kearney fired wide from ten yards .The visitors replied with Puaric O’Flaherty having a shot saved by Kris Duffy before seeing his header from Johnathan Eccles cross also gathered by Duffy. The home side upped the tempo with Declan Kearney free finding Barry Diver who somehow headed wide when it looked easier to score. McLaughlin then had a shot well saved by Liam O’Donnell before on the stroke of half tiem the home side broke the deadlock .Declan Kearney gained possession on halfway and advanced before finding brother Ronan with a ball over the top and he sidestepped a defender before rounding the keeper and slotting the ball home. On the restart Ronan Kearney and Gavin McLaughlin combined but Kearney fired wide from close range. Buncrana replied and got on top with Johnathan Eccles cross finding O’Flaherty who headed over. The same two combined minutes later but O’Flaherty shot just wide on this occasion. On 66 minutes Diarmuid Fullerton’s free found O’Flaherty but his rising shot was brilliantly saved by Kris Duffy. The pressure paid on 70 minutes when O’Flaherty turned brilliantly on the edge of the area and hammered a rising shot to the top corner. Gleneely finished the stronger when Duffy found Keith McLaughlin who played a one two with Stephen McLaughlin but shot wide when well placed. On 88 minutes Barry Diver found Ronan Kearney who rounded the advancing keeper but saw his effort hit the post and run along the line before being cleared.

On 15 minutes JP Thompson crossed but PJ Barr’s header was well saved by Kieran Friel. Rasheney replied with ShaunToland finding Eamon Mahom but he fired wide from twelve yards. Midway through the half the home side broke the deadlock after James Gillen and Barr combined to release Glen Callaghan and hr fired a low shot past Friel from twenty yards. Rasheney should have leveled before the break when Toland collected a loose ball in midfield and ran forward but was denied by Maurice McGeady and Ryan Harkin’s goalbound follow up was cleared off the line by Andrew McLaughlin.The crucial moment of the game arrived on 71 minutes when the home side increased their lead after Gillen fed Barr who released substitute Brian Orr and he chipped Friel from the edge of the area .Minutes later they sealed victory when Barr and Callaghan played a one two before sending Raymond Campbell clear to shoot low to the bottom corner from fifteen yards.                            

Glengad United 6            Sea Rovers FC            2

The home side started well and Daniel Toland had to be alert to save a Shane Doherty header before producing a brilliant save from Paul McDermott. They opened the scoring on 15 minutes after Michael Doherty fed Terence Doherty on the left of the area and he shot low to the corner from fifteen yards. Doherty was the provider again minutes later when he found John G McDermott in a central position and he finished well from fifteen yards. Rovers replied and William Logan was twice denied by good saves by Michael McLaughlin before they pulled a goal back on 41 minutes when Seamus McLaughlin cut in from the left to shoot low to the corner. Glengad regained the initiative on 50 minutes when good play by Michael and Jason Doherty saw the latter cross for Paul McDermott to head home .Minutes later McDermott fed John G McLaughlin on right and his cross was headed home by Michael Doherty. They made it five one on 75 minutes after Terence Doherty collected a loose ball to hammer high to the net from fifteen yards before Patrick McDermott fed brother Paul who shot low to the net from inside the area.Rovers gained a consolation on 88 minutes when substitute Simon Ward raced up the left cut in and unleashed a superb twenty yards effort to the bottom corner.

The colts dominated the opening period and opened the scoring on 16 minutes when Declan Kearney flicked on to Ronan Kearney who set up Keith McLaughlin to drive a blistering shot to the roof of the net from fifteen yards. Before the break they increased their lkead when Declan Kearney played a corner out to McLaughlin and he shot through a crowd of players to the bottom corner from fifteen yards. Greencastle tried to reply and on 55 minutes Paddy Keys went on a solo run and cut in from the left but was denied by a superb save from Kris Duffy. Good interplay by the Keys brothers saw Paddy and Jack combine for the latter who shot just over the top. Ronan Kearney then robbed a defender to waltz through and round the keeper to score. A Declan Kearney corner was scrambled home by Barry Diver late on to complete the scoring.

Buncrana were first to show when Puaric O’Flaherty laid the ball back to Greg Bradley but he fired wide from twelve yards. The home side replied with Denis Hegarty firing wide from twelve yards and Eamon Mahon having an effort saved by Rory Kelly. Midway through the period the visitors opened the scoring following a goalmouth scramble when Michael Caldwell poked the ball home. Rasheney replied with Shaun McLaughlin and Vinny Brennan both crowded out by defenders before Alan Friel set up Denis Hegarty but his effort was claimed by Kelly. Friel then had a free easily gathered by Kelly before at the other end Gerard McLaughlin missed an open goal to increase the visitors lead. In the opening minute of the second period keeper Kelly had to be at his best to claw the ball away from underneath the bar. At the other end O’Flaherty flashed a shot just wide. Rasheney then got on top with Brennan denied three times by Kelly and Hegarty curled a shot just wide when a ricochet fell to him. Buncrana broke and O’Flaherty was surprised himself to see his weak shot squirm past Kieran Friel in the home goal. The home side tried to reply with John McLaughlin’s deep cross just missed by Friel. In a similar move minutes later they reduced the deficit when McLaughlin crossed and Friel scored with a superb header to the bottom corner. McLaughlin then went close with a cross shot

This was a good win for the home side and severely dents the promotion prospects of the visitors. Glengad had the first chance when Michael Doherty fed John G McDermott but he fired over from twenty yards. The home side replied and in a good move JP Thompson played a neat one two with John McGeady who crossed for PJ Barr but he headed over at the back post. The home side went close again before the interval when James Gillen’s long free was flicked on by Raymond Campbell to Gerard Gill but he was denied by the advancing Michael McLaughlin. The second period was a tight competitive affair with defences on top. The crucial moment came on 77 minutes when Thompson’s long clearance saw Gill beat the offside trap to slip the ball past McLaughlin. Glengad exerted pressure on the home side but failed to create any chances.

In a surprise result the first chance fell to the home side when James Gray’ s attempted pass to Iarlaith McLaughlin was intercepted by Liam Diver and the danger averted. The visitors took the lead on 20 minutes after Vincent Brennan’s free into the area was hooked across goal by Denis Hegarty to John McLaughlin to slot home from six yards.McLaughlin’s corner minutes later caused confusion in the colts defence but Brian Devlin failed to get a shot in. The home side replied with Eddie McNamee advancing up the left and laid the ball off to Iarlaith McLaughlin who cut in and unleashed a goalbound effort but Friel gathered easily.Then Jason McElhinney and Gareth McLaughlin combined well on the left with the former’s cross to the centre well claimed by Friel.Gray then set up McLaughlin whose right wing cross found McElhinney but his shot was charged down.On 38 minutes Rasheney doubled their lead after John McLaughlin advanced up the left and from the corner flag crossed  where both central defenders contrived to deflect the ball into the net.The home side started the second period well and Gray’s cross was fingertipped to safety by Friel.On 57 minutes Gray turned well but hooked his effort just over the angle of post and bar.Then on 73 minutes Barry Kearney was denied by a superb tackle by Paul McConnellogue.Four minutes from time Barry Diver’s diagonal cross found substitute Ronan Kearney but the ball glanced wide from close range.Both teams were reduced to ten when Barry Kearney and Denis Hegarty were redcarded for an altercation in the dying minutes.

In blustery conditions the visitors threatened on 20 minutes after Gerard Gill rounded Daniel Toland in the home goal but from an angle shot off the post.The home side replied before the break with Simon Ward shooting just wide from the edge of the area.The visitors took the lead on the hour after Gill’s superb free kick was headed home by Mike Price.Carrowmena increased their advantage ten minutes later when a long cross into the area was headed home by Raymond Campbell.They were reduced to ten men after Glen Callaghan was redcarded for dissent.The home side went close to a consolation in the last minute when William Logan’s corner found Adrian Doherty but his effort came off the crossbar. 

 

 

Late O’Flaherty strike keeps Hearts in control

This game was switched to the Warren and Buncrana will be happy enough to have salvaged a point in their quest for league honours. Carrowmena were first to show on the half hour after Gerard Gill crossed from the left for Darryl McDermott to see his header palmed away by Adrian Brown.McDermott then fired over from a good position before Brian Orr fed Andrew McLaughlin whose driven cross eluded all.On the stroke of half time Darren McGlynn fed Patrick Fletcher but he was denied by the advancing Maurice McGeady. Carrowmena took the lead on 65 minutes after McLaughlin’s quick free fed Sean McGrenaghan and he advanced into the area to fire low past Brown from sixteen yards.On 80 minutes Orr went close when his powerful effort was beaten away by Brown.With four minutes remaining Buncrana salvaged a point when Puaric McLaughlin done well on the right to feed the ball to Puaric O’Flaherty and he fired low past McGeady from eight yards.The home side had the last chance but on the stroke of full time Gill’s shot was well saved by Brown.

Colts hit Rovers for five to close the gap

Rovers complete their league campaign with another defeat against title chasing Gleneely.The colts took the lead on 2 minutes with Barry Diver heading past Brendan Monagle following a corner.Midway through the half the visitors doubled their lead when Jason McElhinney’s free was headed home by Neil G Duffy.Rovers replied and Daniel Glackin fired just over  before Monagle in the home goal saved well to deny Declan Kearney.Gleneely made it three nil when Declan Kearney fired low to the bottom corner from the edge of the area.Rovers tried to hit back with Anthony Coffey firing just wide before William Logan forced a great save from Kris Duffy.Before the break Ronan Kearney was denied by Monagle.On the restart Declan Kearney had an effort off the crossbar before at the other end Donal Doherty fired over from point blank range.Substitute Damien McColgan then fired home number four with a good low shot before Gavin McLaughlin completed the scoring when he fired past Monagle when well placed.

The home side totally dominated against a visitors who were short a number of regulars.United opened the scoring on 11 minutes after a long free by John G McLaughlin evaded all and landed in the net.Midway through the half they added another when Ruairi Doherty ‘s solo run  took him past three men before shooting low to the corner from fourteen yards.Patrick McDermott converted a penalty after  John G McLaughlin was upended.McDermott then went on to add three more for his hat trick and four in total before McLaughlin added a second     with goals from Christy McLaughlin and John McDaid completing the rout.

In breezy conditions the home side started well but could not break down the visitors and it was Glengad who opened the scoring midway through the half when Paddy Doherty fired a superb twenty five yards effort to the top corner.Ten minutes later John McDermott played a neat one two with Doherty before slotting home from ten yards. Greencastle replied with Shaun McKinney and Gerard Kelly  having good efforts well saved by Michael McLaughlin.Glengad replied before the interval when Stephen McLaughlin had an effort deflected past Philip McClenaghan in the home goal.On the restart Jack Keys for the home side saw his solo run end with an effort saved by McLaughlin.The home side were caught pushing forward late on when Christy McLaughlin broke from halfway to slot low past McClenaghan from the edge of the area.

Rasheney started well and when Damien Friel’s long kick out found Alan Friel he was only denied by a last ditch tackle from James Gillen.Midway through the half the home side hit back after Darryl McDermott fed Ritchie McElhinney but he fired over when well placed.Rasheney went close again with Denis Hegarty denied by the legs of keeper Michael Noone.In the opening minute of the second period Ryan Harkin fired just wide for the visitors.The home side broke the deadlock on 54 minutes when Raymond Campbell fed McDermott and he fired a low shot from the edge of the area to the bottom corner.They had another chance on 76 minutes when PJ Barr fed Campbell but he fired straight at Friel.Rasheney exerted a lot of pressure in the closing quarter but the closest they came was a Vincent Brennan effort which was saved by  Michael Noone.

The colts re-ignited their title challenge with a last minute victory over a good Buncrana side who will rue some missed chances.On 11 minutes good interplay between Ronan Kearney and Jason McElhinney ended with the latter firing well over.The visitors responded with Johnny Eccles firing wide before Karl Kelly’s dangerous driven free kick was well cleared by Neil G Duffy. On 33 minutes following a scramble in the area the ball fell to Puaric O’Flaherty but his close range effort was deflected behind by Kris Duffy.Minutes later O’Flaherty then released Greg Bradley but his effort was gathered at the second attempt by Duffy before on the stroke of half time Duffy gathered well at the foot of his post from Patrick Fletcher.Gleneely started the second half better and and had a great chance when Ronan Kearney latched onto a ball over the top but with the visitors defence waiting for offside Kearney’s control let him down and when he passed to Gray he was ruled offside.Minutes later Barry Diver collected a throw in and burst into the area but his driven effort was well saved by Adrian Brown.On 65 minutes Buncrana went close when Fletcher fired just over before Michael Caldwell headed over from a corner.With time running out the home side were caught on the break when Bernie Doherty raced from halfway into the area but blazed inches over the top.This was to prove costly as a last ditch tackle by Brian Bradley at the expense of a corner denied Ronan Kearney.From Declan Kearney’s corner James Gray rose unmarked to head the ball home from six yards to leave the title still unresolved with two games to go

With wind advantage the home side forced a few corners but it was the visitors who carved out the clearer chances.On 9 minutes the visitors Terence Doherty ran onto a ball through the middle but scuffed his effort when well placed.They then had claims for a penalty waved away before on 17 minutes the home side responded when Paul McConnellogue sidestepped two defenders but blazed over from the edge of the area.On the half hour Paddy Doherty’s rasping drive from fourteen yards rebounded off the post with home keeper Damien Friel beaten.Then John McLaughlin had a free kick from twenty five yards clip the top of the bar.Just before the break the visitors Michael Doherty went close with a spectacular overhead kick.Glengad opened the scoring on 50 minutes when Paddy McDermott’s sweetly struck free kick from thirty yards flew into the top corner.Two minutes later they doubled their lead when Paddy Doherty drove home from twelve yards in a crowded area.Glengad continued to hold the upper hand with Terence Doherty firing over when well placed and McDermott having another free saved by Friel.Rasheney’s only response came when Denis Hegarty dispossessed a defender but his dangerous cross found no takers.

Buncrana knew that nothing less than victory would suffice if they were to have any chance of league victory and they responded superbly.United had the first opening on 5 minutes when Michael McLaughlin’s long ball was flicked on by Michael Doherty to Stephen McLaughlin but he fired over.The home side replied and opened the scoring on 18 minutes after Karl Kelly’s free was flicked on by Puaric O’Flaherty for Michael Caldwell to head home from six yards.They went close again when Bernie Doherty crossed for Darren McGlynn to volley home  just wide.On the half hour McGlynn’s corner was headed down by Doherty to Greg Bradley to fire home from five yards.Before the break the visitors responded with Patrick McDermott’s free held by Adrian Brown.They had another chance after the break when McDermott advanced and fed Shane Doherty who crossed for Michael Doherty but he headed over the top.The home side responded        well with Kelly crossing from the right for O’Flaherty to control well beat a defender but see his effort well saved by McLaughlin.They made it three nil on 65 minutes when McGlynn dispatched a superb free to the top corner from the edge of the area.They completed the scoring on 82 minutes when Kelly fed Brian Bradley who released Patrick Fletcher and he beat his marker and fired low to the net.

 

Glengad United 3-0            Gleneely Colts

The home side started well and a deep corner from Paul McDermott found Shane Doherty at the back post but at full stretch he headed over.At the other end hesitancy allowed Declan Kearney cross to James Gray but his glancing header did not threaten.Kearney then had a fine low shot from twenty yards which Michael McLaughlin saved low to his right. Glengad replied with McDermott jinking his way along the end line but seeing his penalty claims waved away.On 19 minutes Kearney pulled his corner to the edge of the area but Eddie McNamee blazed wildly over the top.Glengad replied and forced another corner which saw McDermott’s cross find John G McLaughlin but he headed to the side netting under pressure.The deadlock was broken on 35 minutes when a scramble in the box saw the ball fall to McDermott who displayed neat footwork but was denied by Kris Duffy at the expense of a corner.McDermott’s deliver found Michael Doherty and unmarked he powered a header to the net despite the best efforts of a defender on the line.Minutes latert they doubled their lead when a Colts defender lost possession allowing JG McDermott to lay the ball off to Terence Doherty who crashed a superb shot to the top right hand corner from twenty yards.On 39 minutes Patrick McDermott’s free found Paul McDermott but unmarked he headed over from six yards. Doherty then had  a vicious shot well saved by Duffy who was also alert to deny JG McDermott.On the stroke of half time the home side really sealed the points when a misplaced header by a Colts defender fell to Doherty ands he swept the ball home from twelve yards past the exposed Duffy. Gleneely tried hard in the second half and on 63 minutes Eddie McNammee had a driven effort from twenty fivc yards beaten away by McLaughlin before James Gray had a header from a corner well saved also.On 73 minutes substitute Gavin McLaughlin sent Jason McElhinney away on the left but his effort across McLaughlin came off the far post to Ronan Kearney whose follow up effort was saved by McLaughlin.The colts best chance came on 84 minutes when Gavin McLaughlin headed on to put Gray clear but he rolled the ball past the outside of the post from twelve yards.Glengad finished with a flourish with brilliant control and turn by Terence Doherty taking him into the area but Duffy advanced to smother.Duffy then stood tall to block successive efforts from substitutes Stephen McLaughlin and Ronald McDaid as they raced through unchallenged.And so the tightest of leagues for many seasons has one final twist when Glengad United and Buncrana Hearts Res meet in St Patricks Park Carndonagh next Sunday to decide who will be the winners and runners up this season.
