Moville pay the penalty
Moville Celtic 2-3 Redcastle United
Redcastle stunned the home side by racing into a three nil lead. They opened the scoring on 3 minutes after Kieran McGrory’s cross found Brian Tracey who slotted home from six yards.Moville responded with Nigel McMonagle having a left footed effort saved by Gerard Crossan.Redcastle doubled their lead on 14 minutes when Cathal Faulkner’s throw was flicked on by Raymond Campbell for Colm McLaughlin to slot home at the back post.Midway through the half they added another when a deep corner was headed across by McLaughlin for McGrory to slot home at the second attempt after his initial effort was cleared off the line by Shane Canning.Moville replied and when Alan Orr turned and saw his deflected effort brilliantly tipped over by Crossan one sensed it was not to be their day. They spurned another gilt edged chance on the stroke of half time after McMonagle was upended but Gerry Gill’s spot kick was brilliantly saved by Crossan low to his right.Moville began the second period well with McMonagle flashing a shot just wide before on the hour they got a goal back when Ritchie McElhinney fed Joe Doherty who crossed for McMonagle to tap home.Minutes later they added another when Gills free found Gordon Martin who powered a header to the bottom corner.Kevin Coyle then saw an effort fly just over and for all the home pressure they could not force extra time.
Shamrocks prove too strong for Dunree
Dunree United 0-3 Clonmany Shamrocks
Dunree had a great chance to take the lead after only 7 minutes when Michael McGlynn crossed to Brendan McDaid but he sidefooted wide from seven yards.Clonmany tookthe lead five minutes later when Niall McDaid was left unmarked to head past Johnathan Noone from close range. They doubled their lead before the break when Paul McLaughlin’s long clearance bounced over Noone to the net.Dunree upped the pace and McDaid had an effort blocked by the legs of Peter Devlin before McGlynn’s cross fell to McDaid but again Devlin was equal to it and made the save.Clonmany sealed the tie on 83 minutes when Brendan Devlin broke and crossed for substitute Liam Diver to slot the ball home.Dunree were unlucky when Neil Moran beat a defender but saw his effort cleared off the line before at the other end Clonmany’s Joe Grant failed to hit the target when it looked easier to score.
