McMonagle hat trick highlight of the game

The home side started well with Joe Doherty having an early effort blocked by Ritchie Cunningham.They went close again when Graeme Doherty crossed for Joe Doherty but his header was again well saved by Cunningham.Carn replied midway through the half when John Doherty had an effort from the edge of the area smothered by Maurice McGeady. Minutes later Niall Mclaughlin had a corner which fell to Brendan Tabb but he fired over. Moville replied and in the one attack Joe and Graeme Doherty both had efforts blocked by the Carn defence.On 28 minutes Graeme Doherty ‘s rising effort was saved by Cunningham.They went close again when Nigel McMonagle cut in from the right and saw his driven effort rebound off the underside of the bar to safety. A defensive error in the home defence allowed Doherty in but his effort was well blocked by McGeady.On the restart Joe Doherty got his head to a Graeme Doherty cross but his effort crashed off the post.On 53 minutes good play by Malachy McDermott set up Nigel McMonagle and he slid the ball past Cunningham from six yards.Moville increased their lead on 65 minutes when Graeme Doherty lobbed Cunningham from twelve yards.On 74 minutes Niall McLaughlin burst through the home defence but saw his effort saved by McGeady. Minutes later Kevin Hirrell had an effort cleared off the line. Moville made it three nil on 80 minutes when a long kick out was headed on by Joe Doherty to McMonagle who fired to the top corner from twenty two yards.Two minutes later after a swift counter attack Ryan McMonagle chipped Cunningham from ten yards to make it four nil.Nigel McMonagle completed his hat trick with a superb driven shot across Cunningham to the bottom corner.Carn got a consolation on 88 minutes after Hirrell turned well and fired past McGeady from eight yards.

Honours even in entertaining affair

This was an entertaining scoreless draw with chances at both ends and a draw a fair result in the end.The home side began well with Joe Grant crossing for Stephen McLaughlin to volley over the top.The point replied on 12 minutes when Seannan McColgan had a twenty five yards free cut out by Michael Byrne.Play swung to the other end with McLaughlin’s corner finding Steve Harkin but his header flew just wide.The point got on top at this stage with McColgan firing wide under pressure from Grant before Anthony McColgan fired just past the post and Dean Barron had an effort well saved by Peter Devlin on 33 minutes.The home side responded with Steve Harkin rounding the keeper but seeing his effort cleared off the line by Paul Grant. Before the break Grant’s corner found Kevin Wallace whose header clipped the bar on the way over.On the restart the shamrocks had the first opening when McLaughlin fired just wide from the edge of the area.The visitors replied when Donny Bell crossed for Terry McColgan but his twelve yards shot flew just wide.Clonmany introduced Brendan Devlin and on 70 minutes he failed to hit the target from eight yards from a tight angle.At the other end Peter Devlin punched clear to deny Anthony and Terry McColgan.The home side had a late chance to win it after a corner fell to Brendan Devlin and when he crossed to Niall McDaid his downward header flew across the face of goal and just eluded the inrushing Raymond McDaid.
Seven goal thriller at Caratra
Culdaff FC 4-3 Dunree United
The home side just about deserved to win but having conceded three goals from set pieces they almost let Dunree back into the game.The visitors had the first chance when Sean Doherty’s floated free found Paul Craig but he headed past the post with the home defence all over the place.Culdaff with the wind lifted their game and when John McFeely’s diagonal ball found Declan Kearney he was denied by the advancing Roger McGilloway.The home side broke the deadlock on 16 minutes when a defensive error allowed Kearney in and he fired past McGilloway from sixteen yards. Midway through the half Derek Doherty’s cross from the right broke to Kearney but he blazed over from fifteen yards before Adrian McGonigle had a fine effort saved low to his left by McGilloway.Just after the half hour Dunree got back on terms when Michael McGlynn’s free into the heart of the home defence found the unmarked Shaun Doherty to head home from eight yards.Culdaff upped the tempo and regained the lead six minutes later when Derek Doherty flicked on a throw in to McGonigle who squared inside to Dermot Diver and he fired left footed to the bottom corner from fourteen yards.Wihtin minutes they had increased their lead when a superb Matthew Byrne free found Conor O’Brien who glanced a brilliant header to the bottom corner from the edge of the area.Culdaff had the best of the early exchanges on the restart with Kearney sending Doherty clear but he fired straight at McGilloway.Just before the hour Dunree replied with Brendan McDaid firing a snapshot just over the top.On 65 minutes Dunree reduced the deficit when McDaid’s corner to the near post was headed home by the unmarked Kevin Harkin.The home defence stood firm until the 82 minutes when barry Nixon’s cross found the unmarked Jason McLaughlin but his diving header flew wide when he should have hit the target.Culdaff took full advantage on 86 minutes when Brian McGonigle’s long delivery was totally misjudged by McGilloway allowing substitute Niall McLaughlin to hammer the ball home from a tight angle.Dunree pressed to the end and on the stroke of full time Harkin had a header saved by Martin McLaughlin at full stretch but from the corner the unmarked Paddy McLaughlin headed home with the aid of a deflection.
Game marred by injury as Moville hang on

This game was somewhat marred by a serious ankle injury to Aileach’s Brendan McDermott and all associated wish him a speedy recovery.In an entertaining game Moville started well with Nigel McMonagle feeding Alan Orr but his cross eluded all. At the other end McDermott had a shot well held by Maurice McGeady. The home side opened the scoring on 14 minutes when Gerry Gill and McMonagle combined to find Kevin McDermott whose deep cross was tapped in by Joe Doherty at the back post.Minutes later they went two up when Gordon Martin’s long clearance bounced over Kevin McDermott to the net. On the half hour Aileach replied when McDermott broke clear but was forced wide by McGeady and shot wide from a tight angle.They reduced the deficit on 33 minutes when Kieran Craig’s shot rebounded off McGeady for Craig to croos to Brendan McDermott to slot home.Moville got their two goal lead back on the stroke of half time after Doherty’s shot on the turn was parried by McDermott to Ryan McMonagle and he stroked the loose ball home. In the opening minute of the second period substitute Colin Doherty crossed for Nigel McMonagle to volley past McDermott from twelve yards and make it four one.Aileach replied again on the hour when Brendan McDermott’s free rebounded off the post to Gregory Doherty to head the rebound home.On 71 minutes they reduced the deficit further when McDermott fed Craig and he fired low past McGeady from twelve yards.After a delay for that unfortunate injury the game resumed with Aileach pressing and the home side dangerous on the break but Moville held on to take the points.
Coyle double sends Redcastle to the top
Carn FC 0-4 Redcastle United
The visitors opened the scoring on 5 minutes when Brian Tracey crossed from the left for Gavin McCauley to head past Ritchie Cunningham from six yards.Carn replied with Liam Shields and John Doherty combining but Shields flashed a header just past the post.Redcastle made it two nil when Damien Coyle forced the ball home from close range after the home defence failed to clear. Coyle added another on 35 minutes after neat build up from Tracey and Jimmy Gallagher ended with Tracey squaring to Coyle to slot home from five yards.On the stroke of half time Cathal Faulkner’s free was knocked down by Coyle to Raymond Campbell who forced the ball home from twelve yards. Redcastle dominated the second period with substitute Andy Porter rattling the bar with a free kick on 58 minutes.On 65 minutes a quick counter from the home side ended with John Doherty firing over from the edge of the area.Redcastle completed the scoring on 80 minutes when Tracey’s corner found Faulkner whose header was tipped over by Cunningham.
