Culdaff Res 1-2 Rasheney Res
The home side started well when Patrick McLaughlin flicked on a long throw to Niall Gordon but his diving header went just past the post.Rasheney replied and opened the scoring when John Grant crossed from the left for Cathal Heron to volley past George Houten from six yards.Culdaff should have leveled when Paddy McColgan’s corner was headed across by Patrick McLaughlin but Eugene McLaughlin headed off the bar from point blank range.On 55 minutes McColgan crossed to Mick McLaughlin but his effort was turned round the post by Damien Friel.The home side did level on 64 minutes when McColgan’s free was powerfully headed to the net by Patrick McLaughlin from ten yards.Rasheney responded and regained the lead on 72 minutes after a defensive error allowed Cathal Herron to race into the area and lift the ball over George Houten.They almost added a third when a defender missed the ball allowing Brendan Grant torace clear but his effort was turned away by Houten.Culdaff replied and Conor McLaughlin headed over from a corner before in the last minute Patrick Mclaughlin’s header from another corner by Eugene McLaughlin cannoned back off the post.

This was a competitive affair with both defences on top until the 40th minute when the visitors opened the scoring after Colm McLaughlin’s effort was t5unred behind by JP Houten.From the corner Brendan Murphy volleyed home from the edge of the area.They increased their lead on 55 minutes when the home defence failed to deal with a long ball and Murphy again finished well.Matt Grant then picked out Thomas McDermott and he executed a brilliant finish to the roof of the net from sixteen yards.Grant got on the scoresheet himself when he dispatched a twenty five yards effort to the bottom corner before they completed the scoring when Colm McLaughlin’s effort was deflected past Houten.

The visitors took the lead on 35 minutes when Gerard Gill played a one two with Raymond Campbell and fired past Patsy Barr.The home side replied with Seamus Crumlish heading a corner off the bar.Greencastle started well but the visitors broke with Campbell going past four defenders to slot past Philip McClenaghan.They increased their lead after Campbell controlled and lobbed the advancing McClenaghan from eighteen yards.Carrowmena made it four after good interplay from Glen Callaghan and PJ Barr released Campbell to complete his hat trick.On 88 minutes Gerard Gill pounced on a defensive error to volley to the top corner from the edge of the area.

League leaders Redcastle continued their good form and look hot favourites for league honours and promotion. But it was the home side who started well and were totally out of luck when both Johnathan McLaughlin and Gerard Gill had efforts crash back off the woodwork in the opening quarter.Redcastle settled and opened the scoring on 21 minutes when Brendan Murphy ran through the heart of the defence to shoot low past Michael Noone.Theyn then went close twice after Stephen Davenport and Stephen Grant both had efforts rebound off the post before the interval.Five minutes after the restart the visitors increased their advantage when Davenport fired high to the roof of the net from twenty yards.The home side tried to reply with Sean McGrenaghan lobbing keeper Davenport but seeing his effort drift just wide.Redcastle sealed it on 76 minutes when Davenport crossed for Murphy to tap in from close range and they completed the scoring on 87 minutes after Murphy ran clear and drilled a low shot past Noone from twelve yards.

The visitors began the better and opened the scoring on 15 minutes when James McColgan fed Cathal Gillespie and he rounded keeper McGilloway to slot home.They doubled their lead on 32 minutes after Conor McDermott crossed for McColgan to sidefoot home from eight yards.The home side got one back minutes later when a good run and cross by Sean Baldrick found Brendan McDaid who fired to the roof of the net.They got back on terms four minutes after the restart when Baldrick’s cross found Paddy Toland who slotted low past Patsy Barr from eight yards.Three minutes later the recovery was complete when they took the lead after Frank Kelly’s long free was volleyed past Barr from ten yards by Baldrick.On 70 minutes the home side increased their advantage when Thomas Mulhern advanced from midfield into the area to slot low to the net from fourteen yards.Greencastle rallied and gained a consolation on 76 minutes when Michael Farren dispatched a superb twenty five yards free to the top corner.

Greencastle replied with Conor McDermott having a shot saved by Michael Noone before Harry McCormick rounded Noone but from a tight angle he fired wide. They took the lead on 42 minutes when Michael Farren played Ryan Doherty through and he rounded Noone to slot home. Carrowmena hit back immediately and got back on terms on the stroke of half time when McLaughlin crossed for Sean McGrenaghan to poke the ball home from close range. The second period was a hard fought affair and on 80 minutes McGrenaghan fired over from six yards. Greencastle hit back and took the lead on the stroke of full time when Farren crossed for Martin Cooley to slot home. In injury time Farren then crossed for Johnny Harvey to tap in at the back post.

The home side started well with John Grant, Conor Collins and Kevin Noone all denied by JP Houten before Philip Ivers beat the offside trap but fired over the top. Gleneely replied and before the break William Hutchinson and John Doherty combined but were crowded out and the chance was lost. Gleneely started better in the second period with Adrian Duffy’s cross just eluding the inrushing Damien McColgan before they broke the deadlock on 58 minutes when confusion in the home area allowed Duffy to poke the ball home. The home side tried to reply with Grant finding space but shooting at Houten before Duffy’s dangerous cross was parried by Friel at the other end. The visitors were reduced to ten men on 73 minutes after Gavin McLaughlin was redcarded for dissent. Rasheney went close on 80 minutes after Ivers shot over the advancing Houten but saw his effort clip the bar before Grant had another shot well gathered by Houten. Gleneely should have made the game safe on 86 minutes when Duffy intercepted keeper Friels attempted pass but with the goal gaping he fired wide from the edge of the area.

The home side dominated for long periods but good goalkeeping by Roger McGilloway allied to poor finishing meant they had to come from behind. Dunree had a great chance in the opening minute after Thomas Mulhern beat the offside trap and raced clear but fired wide of the advancing George Houten. Culdaff replied and when a corner fell to Gary Collins he fired over before another corner fell to Oliver Ruddy who with his back to goals hooked the ball over. Dunree broke the deadlock on 28 minutes after Daniel McLaughlin threaded a ball through the heart of the home defence to Sean Baldrick who fired past Houten from ten yards. Culdaff upped the tempo with Raymond McFeely’s free flicked on by Gerard McLaughlin but superbly saved at the front post by McGilloway. McGilloway excelled to save from Dale Hutchinson and Gregory McGuinness before Patrick McLaughlin had a header cleared off the line by David Cassidy. Culdaff continued to press and on 55 minutes McFeely’s intelligent free to Hutchinson saw the latter fire wide from twelve yards. They spurned a clear opening on 75 minutes when Gerard McLaughlin’s cross from the right found substitute Niall McLaughlin but his attempt resembled a back pass and McGilloway gathered easily. The big striker made amends minutes later when he controlled Gordon’s pass and fired a superb shot from ten yards across McGilloway to the bottom corner. Culdaff pushed forward and struck for the winner on 84 minutes when McGilloway advanced to clear a through ball outside the area and his clearance fell to Gordon who controlled and fired left footed to the unguarded net from twenty five yards.

Culdaff got a dream start when Eugene McLaughlin beat a defender before slotting low past Patsy Barr. Midway through the half the home side got back on terms after Shaun Doherty fed Conor McDermott who crossed for Cathal Gillespie to slot home from twelve yards. Five minutes later the home side took the lead when Martin Cooley was upended allowing Michael Farren to calmly slot the penalty home. The visitors went close when Niall Gordon crossed for Patrick McLaughlin but his header was well saved by Patsy Barr. The visitors leveled on 51 minutes when Gary Collins fed Raymond McFeely who crossed for Patrick Mclaughlin to head home. Greencastle regained the lead on 70 minutes when Ryan Doherty’s goalbound effort was handled by Paul McLaughlin who was redcarded and Farren converted his second penalty of the game. Culdaff poured forward but Barr was equal to all and on the stroke of full time Patrick McLaughlin had a free from the edge of the area tipped over by Barr.

Leaders Redcastle continued their good form with this two nil win in Dunree. The home side were first to show after a long throw found Brendan McDaid who laid it off to Derek Murphy but he fired over. Redcastle broke the deadlock midway through the half after Seamus Farren’s shot on the run was well parried by Roger McGilloway but Brendan Murphy squeezed the ball home from a tight angle. The home side went close after the interval when Neil Moran’s corner was headed just over by David Cassidy. Redcastle sealed the points on 66 minutes when Colm McLaughlin’s throw was picked up by Murphy who turned inside to shoot left footed to the bottom corner from seventeen yards.

This local derby saw the visitors race into a two nil lead but the home side responded well to earn a point. Gleneely opened the scoring on 10 minutes when John Doherty crossed for Adrian Duffy to slide the ball home from sixteen yards. Midway through the half they added a second after Hugh kelly’s floated effort deceived keeper Michael Noone and landed in the net. The home side rallied and on 36 minutes reduced the deficit when Charlie Gill converted a penalty awarded for handball low past JP Houten in the visitors goal. They got back on terns on 57 minutes when PJ Thompson’s corner was powerfully headed to the roof of the net by Johnathan McLaughlin.Both teams fought hard for a winner but the defences stood firm and they had to settle for a share of the spoils.

The home side began well with Finn Mc Cormick having a header tipped over by JP Houten. They took the lead on 21 minutes after Conor McDermott’s corner found Michael Farren who laid the ball off to McCormick to slot home from six yards. Gleneely got back on terms minutes later when Martin McDaid fed Cathal Diver who found Kevin Doherty to round a defender and shoot low past Patsy Barr. On the stroke of half time Farren squared to James McColgan but he was denied by a smothering save by Houten. The visitors took the lead on the hour mark after Houten found Diver on the half way line and he advanced past two defenders before shooting low past Barr from sixteen yards.The home side replied and were unlucky when Farrens twenty yards effort rebounded off the angle of post and bar before striking Houten on the back and bouncing wide. Cathal Gillespie and John McDermott were both denied by Houten before on full time Thomas Cavanagh saw his effort strike the butt of the post and bounce away to safety.

Culdaff kept up their league title challenge with this hard fought win over Rasheney. They started well and took the lead when Raymond McFeely fired a superb twenty five yards free to the top corner. They doubled their lead on 25 minutes when McFeely’s free was headed across goal by Dale Hutchinson to Conor Mclaughlin to hook the ball home. Rasheney replied with Peter Hegarty having a shot palmed away by George Houten before on 32 minutes Neil Doherty fed Philip Ivers who lifted the ball over the advancing Houten to the net. Kevin Noone then had a shot wide before they leveled on 39 minutes after Neil Doherty’s cross was headed home by Michael Doherty from eight yards. Culdaff started the second half with Gerard McLaughlin firing just wide after good work by Hutchinson. At the other end Malachy Gill set up Ivers but he drilled wide from the edge of the area. Culdaff then had three chances to regain the lead but McFeely fired a free wide before McLaughlin shot weakly at Friel and then McFeely had a shot saved in a three on one situation. They struck for the winner on 73 minutes when McLaughlin crossed for McFeely to convert from eight yards. McFeely then was denied a hat trick by a superb save from Friel late on.

The home side recorded a first win of the season in blustery conditions in Gleneely.On 18 minutes the visitors went close after Sean McGrenaghan broke through the home defence but was denied by JP Houten.Gleneely hit back with Enda Folan’s free from the edge of the area well saved by Michael Noone.The home side opened the scoring on 22 minutes when Shane Diver beat two defenders and fed John Doherty whose shot rebounded off the post to Adrian Duffy who slotted home from six yards. Diver then went close but dragged his shot wide on the half hour before Cathal Diver had an effort from twelve yards well saved by Noone.The home side were first to show on 55 minutes after Doherty found Shane Diver but Noone made a superb one handed save. Fifteen minutes later they increased their advantage after Cathal & Shane Diver combined to find the overlapping Duffy and he fired to the bottom corner from fourteen yards.Carrowmena pushed hard but failed to create any clear chances and Kevin Doherty went close for the home side when his effort drew a good save from Noone.

Carrowmena got back on terms five minutes before the interval after Kevin McDaid crossed from the right for James McDermott to shoot high past Roger McGilloway from ten yards. Ten minutes after the break Dunree’s Brendan McDaid cut in from the wing and saw his powerful effort tipped over by McGilloway. They regained the lead on the hour after Paddy Toland released Thomas Mulhern and he shot low past Noone from fourteen yards.But Carrowmena leveled again on 81 minutes when Finbar McCallion crossed for Sean McGrenaghan and he fired high past McGilloway from fifteen yards.Dunree almost snatched it on 87 minutes when Baldrick raced clear only to be denied by a smothering save from Noone.

The visitors had the first opening on 10 minutes when Kevin Doherty seized on a poor clearance but shot wide from the edge of the area. On 28 minutes Redcastle replied when Brendan Murphy found Seamus Farren but he shot wide from a good position. They took the lead minutes later after Matt Grant’s cross was only half cleared allowing Stephen Davenport to drill the ball low past Eddie McNamee. Murphy then shot over from eight yards before Farren had an effort tipped over by McNamee. Gleneely replied but Hugh Kelly’s free was well wide of the mark. The only goalscoring chance fell to the visitors when Roger McGilloway found Brendan McDaid who played a neat one two with Neil Moran but was denied by a superb save from Patsy Barr. On 50 minutes the home side went close after Michael Farren found Conor Lafferty who crossed from Ryan Doherty but his low effort was well gathered at the post by McGilloway.
